Perchcast: Rivalries are a Big Dill

The Seahawks are headed into the regular season with good vibes after some offensive fireworks in Saturday’s 97-87 exhibition victory over UNCG.

There’s still room for improvement on the defensive end, but UNCW showed off its depth and versatility with a dominant performance from Patrick Wessler in the paint, a hot shooting day from CJ Luster and Makel Smith on the perimeter, and all-around contributions from guys like Tyler Nelson and Gavin Walsh.

Then, we turn to Monday’s game vs. Mount Olive, which visits for the fourth straight opening night in Trask. It’s about time we gave this rivalry a name and trophy. Timothy Horrell suggests The Pickle Pummeling. The Battle for 117?

History suggests this will be a high-scoring affair, but we’re hoping to see the Hawks lock in with transition defense.

Finally, a look around at other preseason action in the CAA and a few points on in-state mid-majors.
